Freshman Admission Requirements

Our commitment to individual attention reaches beyond the classroom into the admissions process. To determine your academic preparedness and fit, all elements of your application will be reviewed carefully by a University professional.

Highest admission priority will be granted to students with the strongest academic records.

What Admissions Considers

Academic Completion

You are required to complete a core high school curriculum that includes:

  • English - 8 semesters
    • Emphasizing written and oral communications and literature
  • Mathematics - 6 semesters
    •  We encourage college readiness courses like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or fundamentals of computer programming.
  • Science – 4 semesters with laboratories
    • Emphasizing natural science or agricultural science
  • Social science – 4 semesters
    • Emphasizing history and government
  • Foreign language/Fine arts – 4 semesters
    • Any combination of four semesters of a language and/or fine arts, including art or music.

Grade Point Average

You’ll be required to submit a self-reported grade point average.

The middle 50% range for fall 2024 admitted freshmen was 3.3 – 4.0.

Academic Personal Statement

All applicants are welcome to submit a personal statement for review, though it is not required to complete your application. This statement may be considered along with other application materials to determine eligibility for admission. If you opt not to submit a statement and further review is needed to make an admission decision, we will request a personal statement from you at that time.

If you would like to submit a personal statement, your submission should be approximately 500 words in length and address the contributions you are prepared to make to our community, both academically and otherwise. Specifically, your statement should:

  • Identify any circumstances that affected your high school academic performance, if applicable
  • Make clear your commitment to academic success in college, acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses and your plans to utilize available resources
  • Articulate your readiness to engage productively in our campus community outside the classroom

Standardized Test Scores

You are not required to submit a standardized test score as part of your application for admission.

You will still have the option to submit an SAT or ACT score—and if you were to do so, it could not affect your standing negatively.

Applicants who opt not to include an SAT or ACT score will be required to submit a high school transcript in order to complete their application for admission. For students whose application requires further review, additional information such as an academic personal statement may be requested.
